On September 6, 2026, Margaret (Peg) Milliken Brown passed away after a beautiful 91 years of life, surrounded by her loved ones. Peg was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (nee Dimond) Nugent of Roslindale.
Peg was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1953. She then worked as a secretary at B.L. Makepeace in Boston where she met the love of her life, Loring “Larry” Milliken.  They later married in 1955, and together they raised five children in their home in Randolph MA. In the early sixties she held the title of President of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary at Randolph AMVETS Post 51. Once her kids were grown, she went back to work for Esselte Meto in Randolph, Ma. and after 27 years retired as the Regional Administrative Assistant for the Boston area.
In 2003 Peg married Irl Brown Jr. and they spent 19 happy years together residing in Maine and Florida and went on many trips around the world.
Peg was an avid lover of all animals (except spiders!)—if there was a dog or cat in sight, you can bet it would find its way into her lap. She could almost always be found with a mystery novel in one hand and a glass of Franzia Sunset Blush in the other. She loved her days spent at the lake in Bridgton, Maine, especially when her kids, grandkids, and eventually great-grandkids were all there together. She has longed for her lake the last several years and will return to her final resting place nearby soon.
Peg is predeceased by her first husband Loring A. Milliken as well as her second husband Irl O. Brown Jr. She is survived by her sister Roberta and her husband Patrick Joyce of Dennis MA; by her children Robert and wife Susan Milliken of Sandwich MA and their children Scott, Kara, Todd, and Timothy, Stephen and wife Laurel Milliken of Carver MA and their daughters Kirstyn and Jenna, Gary and wife Kim Milliken of The Villages, Florida and their children Matthew, Amanda, and Connor, Kerry and husband Ernest Medeiros of South Yarmouth MA and their children Justin, Brett, and Allyssa, and Laurie and husband David Smith of Plymouth MA and their children Kylie and Tyler. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
Around the halls of Harbor Point, Peg was also known as “Gigi,” a name affectionately given to her by her great-grandson, Devin. They shared a special bond despite the boundaries that Alzheimer’s brought with it.
A special note of thanks to the aides, nurses, and staff at Harbor Point Centerville for making Peg and her family feel like family and for taking such good care of her the past four years. We are eternally grateful for you.
Visiting hours will be held on September 16, 2026, from 9:30am-11:30am at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth. A funeral mass will follow at St. Pius X Church, 98 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth at 12pm.  A burial will be held in Bridgton, Maine on Friday September 18, 2026 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Last Hope K9 Rescue.
