It is with great sadness that the family of Loretta M. (Marques) Kurgan announces her passing on September 23, 2026 at the age of 95 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert T. (Bob) Kurgan for 68 years, until his passing in 2023. 
 
Born and raised in Hudson, MA, Loretta was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Marques. She graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1949, where she was a cheerleader for the Hudson Hawks.
 
In 1955, Loretta married Bob at St. Michael’s Church with a reception at Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury. They built their first home in Hudson before moving to Washington, NJ where they raised two daughters. They relocated again to Danbury, CT where Loretta worked in marketing at Ethan Allan corporate headquarters before retiring in Yarmouth Port, MA.
 
Loretta enjoyed oil painting and was a past member of the Yarmouth Art Guild and Kings Way Artisans. The family has been New England Patriots fans, and season ticket holders since 1971, and the next two generations continue to carry on the tradition. She loved all birds and animals, especially her grandcats, Tara and Hudson. She was known for her homemade apple pie and ice cream cake roll, always served to family and friends with a smile. She was the kind of mother everyone wished they had. We were all very lucky to have had her in our lives.
 
Loretta was a wonderful and loving Mother to her two daughters Jane Kurgan, Susan Bierig (and her husband Brian), and Grandmother to grandsons Michael and Christopher (and his partner Briana). She was predeceased by her sister Dulce Comaskey.  
 
Special thanks to the nurses of VNA Hospice and the administration and staff at Best of Care in Dennis for the caring and compassionate care she received during the past year.
 
A private celebration of Loretta's life will be held at a later date.
