Glen P. Thierwechter of Bass River, MA passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018. He was born on February 25, 1935 in Mt. Zion, PA to the late Robert and Edna (Pfeiffer) Thierwechter and was predeceased by his brother, Lee Thierwechter.

Following graduation from Fredericksburg High School he attended and graduated from Penn State University in 1955. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the counter intelligence division. While in the service he met his late wife, Mary (McAdoo) Thierwechter and they were married from 1960 to 1997.

Glen had a long and varied career in the hotel industry. His first job was as the innkeeper at Philips Academy in Andover, MA. He was then hired by Sheraton Hotel Corporation and eventually became Senior Executive Vice-President of the franchise division. This is when his love of traveling began. He eventually traveled to all 50 states and golfed in each one.

After leaving the Sheraton Hotel Corporation he and Mary spent five years in Chattanooga, TN where he owned a Sheraton Motor Lodge. Upon his return to Cape Cod he was the General Manager of The Sea Mist Resort in Mashpee, MA.

In addition to traveling, Glen enjoyed golf, gardening, cooking, monthly luncheons with his Sheraton buddies and his home in Bass River.

Glen is survived by his son, Brian Thierwechter (Tammy Gibbs) of Sandwich, MA and his daughter, Christine (Jim) Bellinger of Stillwater, OK. He was also the proud grandfather of Kayla and Brian Thierwechter Jr. of Sandwich, MA. He is also survived by his three nephews, John (Linda) Thierwechter, Andrew (Dee) Thierwechter and David (Beki) Thierwechter. In addition he leaves behind his loving companion, Ali Watts.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A private family service is planned at a later date
