John E. Cavagnaro, 83, of Chatham, MA entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2020. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Kennedy) Cavagnaro.
John was born on August 29, 1937 in Holyoke, MA the son of the late Louis and Claire (Reed) Cavagnaro. He grew up in Holyoke and attended schools there. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in business from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
In his younger years, John worked at his family’s store on Dwight Street in Holyoke. Later, he worked for the State of Massachusetts where he met his future wife, Pat, while both were social workers at the Holyoke City Hall. He retired from the State, working as a field supervisor out of the Northampton office.
John enjoyed all New England sports teams, especially the Portland Sea Dogs. He and Pat spent many summer days cheering them on.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Tricia, and her husband, David Mastroianni of Mashpee and; his grandchildren of whom he was especially proud, Christopher, Jonathan, Tricia, Kate, Anthony and Krista.
In addition to his wife and parents, John is predeceased by his brother, Joseph Cavagnaro and step-children, Brian Leonard and Barbara Ethier and grandson, Brian Ethier.
A memorial service will be held later in the spring of 2021 in Kennebunk, Maine.
