Nancy Asselin, 68, of Hyannis, MA, passed away on November 28, 2023. She was born in Meriden, CT, to the late Edward O'Loughlin, Mary (Betty) Takores, and stepdaughter of the late Anthony Takores. Nancy attended Maloney High School in Meriden, CT and Middlesex Community College in Middletown, CT.

Nancy is survived by her former husband Robert Asselin, her loving daughter Nicole Asselin, as well as her devoted son, Brandon Asselin. She is also survived by her sister, Debra O'Loughlin. Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred Kashur.

As a Navy spouse, Nancy traveled across the US taking care of her children while her husband was deployed. She worked at several different careers, and made friends wherever she went.

Well-loved in her Cape Cod community (specifically Barnstable Village), Nancy was instrumental in helping the Barnstable Dog Park become a reality as a member of the committee. She could regularly be found in her garden or playing with her dogs (Fenway and Dunkin). She made everyone smile and will be missed immensely.

A ceremony to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA, on December 16, 2023, from 1-3pm. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org), Fisher House (https://fisherhouse.org/), or the MSPCA (https://www.mspca.org/) .

Dear Nichole, Your mom was a treasure. We had such good times at the Y in our Warm Water Arthritis class. We always got in trouble for talking and laughing so much. She kept that sense of humor even when she was in assisted living. I've only met you and Brandon a few times, but I felt like I knew you both from talking with Nancy. I hope that you can scoop up memories of your mom to help you through this difficult time for you. Mary Witbeck
